Last updated: Draft — pending legal review

This is a working draft written to cover the standard ground for a gifting marketplace handling sender and recipient data across multiple countries. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and doesn't yet reflect your actual data processors, retention periods, or applicable regime (UK GDPR, NDPR in Nigeria, and equivalents in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa all likely apply) — have it reviewed before publishing.

1. What we collect

From senders: name, email, phone number, payment details (handled by our payment processor, not stored by us directly), and the gifts you send. From recipients: name, phone number, delivery address (only for shipped gifts), and redemption activity. We also collect standard technical data — device, browser, and general location — when you use the site.

2. How we use it

To fulfil and deliver gifts, process payments, prevent fraud, provide customer support, and — where you've agreed to it — send you updates about Qifts. We use recipient contact details solely to deliver the gift and related communication, not for unrelated marketing.

3. Who we share it with

The local providers fulfilling a specific gift (a courier, a salon, a retailer) receive only what they need to fulfil that gift — typically a name, contact number, and delivery address where relevant. We also share data with payment processors and service providers who help us run Qifts (hosting, messaging, analytics), bound by their own confidentiality obligations. We don't sell personal data.

4. Where data is processed

Qifts operates across multiple countries by design — senders abroad, recipients in West and East Africa. Data may be processed in a different country from where you're based; where that involves a cross-border transfer, we take reasonable steps to keep it protected to a comparable standard.

5. How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction records for as long as needed for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes, and delete or anonymise other personal data once it's no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you're based, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technology for core site functionality and to understand how Qifts is used, so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Qifts grows. If we make a material change, we'll let you know before it takes effect.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request relating to your data, can be sent to hello@qifts.com.
